Strapping, suave and sophisticated. but Bikram Singh Majithia,33, is much more than that. Coming from one of the most illustrious Sikh families -- the Majithias -- of Punjab, he is a first-time MLA and the youngest Cabinet minister in the Punjab government. An alumunus of the Lawrence School, Sanawar, and St. Stephen's College, Majithia was handling the corporate side of his family-owned Rs. 1000-crore Saraya Group of industries and had a passion for flying, car rallying and basketball. That was before he plunged into Punjab politics.
With Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal jokingly announcing a "gold medal" for anyone getting a right matrimonial match for his media-savvy minister. Majithia works from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on most weekdays. " I am very honest, loyal and hard working. I'm passionate about things that I am doing for underprivileged people," he adds. Ultimately, my passion is to give it back to the society.
